What are your candles made of?

Miluko Collective candles are made with soy wax, cotton wicks, and high-quality fragrance oils free from phthalates, parabens, and dyes.

Where are your candles made?

Our candles are hand-crafted from start to finish in our small surf shack on the north shore of Oahu.

Do you have a store I can visit in person?

At this time we don't have a brick-and-mortar store of our own. We operate within our tiny hale (home) which is not open to the public. However, we will be participating in select farmers' markets on Oahu from time to time and we encourage you to check out our Instagram to see when/where we'll be.

Why do I have to trim the wick and only burn my candles for 4-5 hours at a time?

These are common instructions and great practices for all candles and are meant to prolong a candle’s burn time and improve performance. Burning your candle for 4-5 hours at a time ensures that the wax melts to the edge of the container and prevents tunneling. Tunneling is when the candle burns down the center of the candle without melting the wax around the edges.

How do I care for my candle?

Place on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from flammable objects before lighting. Allow the wax to melt to the edge of the container during your first burn to avoid tunneling. Avoid handling when lit as the vessel may become hot. Keep away from children, pets, and drafts. Avoid burning more than 3-5 hours at a time. Your wick comes pre-trimmed. To maintain a clean burn and prevent mushrooming, trim the wick to 1/4" before relighting. You should always trim your wick before each burning session to ensure that the candle performs optimally. Never leave your lit candle unattended. Discontinue burning when less than 1/4" of wax is left in the vessel.

What do I do if my candle is tunneling?

You can fix a tunneled candle by wrapping a section of aluminum foil around the edges and letting your candle burn. Make sure the foil hangs over the built-up wax ring along the edge, but leave a big enough opening in the center so the wick can still burn properly. After a couple of hours, the wax should melt and even out the surface.

What do I do with my seed paper?

Your order should come with a candle care/instructions card and a Miluko Collective heart card. Both cards are made by hand and are embedded with wildflower seeds. The seeds consist of Snapdragon, Daisy, Foxglove, Petunia, Thyme, Beardtongue, Maiden Pinks, Catchfly, Chamomile, and Poppy. Plant in your garden or a pot and cover with just 1/8" of soil and keep moist until germination is established. Seedlings should receive at least 4 hours of sunlight daily. Some seeds may germinate within a week while others may take as long as six weeks. Continue to give your seedlings water and sunlight and watch them grow! Plants may grow as tall as 3 feet.
